Techniques used for striped bass fishing will depend on where you are fishing for them. If you are striper fishing in a lake, you want to fish the deepest waters possible. Trolling is one of the most effective ways to catch these fish. Live baits, such as shad, shiners, and eels will probably be you best bet. If you want to use lures, make sure you use one of the deep diving types.
Surf fishing is one of the most popular styles of striped bass fishing. For this, you'll need a long surf fishing rod, probably around 12' in length. Before you begin, chumming the water will help to bring the bigger fish in close. In this type of area, clams and mullet are good choices for bait. When casting, try to get your bait beyond the third or fourth wave.
No matter where you fish for striped bass, there is the possibility of landing huge fish. Some of these fish can get up to four feet long. For the avid bass angler, this type of fishing can offer them a new and exiting challenge.
